KATHMANDU: A candidate from CPN-UML, listed under the ‘others’ category, returned without filing a nomination on Monday after discovering his name was not on the voter list.

As per UML sources, Arjun Singh Rajput couldn’t locate his name in the voter list upon arrival at the Provincial Election Office in Janakpur to register as a candidate for the National Assembly.

Rajput, who intended to file his candidacy from another group in Madhes, had to return as his name was absent from the voter list for the upcoming elections.

Sanjiv Jha Suraj, a central member of the UML, mentioned that in place of Rajput, Bijeta Jha from the other group will be nominated by the UML to register as a candidate for the elections.

There are two vacant seats in the National Assembly from Madhes, one falling under the ‘others’ category and the other under the women’s category, both set for elections.
