NEPSE records dip by 26.36 points, hydropower sector shows growth



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plummeted by 26.36 points in comparison to the previous trading day, to stand at 2022.9 points.

There has been a decrease in trading volume as well. While the previous day saw transactions worth NPR 5.58 billion, Sunday witnessed deals amounting to NPR 5.24 billion. When 81 companies saw an increase, 159 saw a decline in their value, while 6 remained stable.

On this day, all sectors experienced a decline except for the hydropower sector. The positive atmosphere in the hydropower sector has been created by the agreement with India for electricity export, resulting in a 1.03% increase in the sector’s value. Banking declined by 1.8%, Development Bank by 1.1%, Finance by 1.3%, Insurance by 1.3%, Manufacturing by 1.6%, Microfinance by 0.4%, Non-Life Insurance by 1.6%, Others by 1.8%, and Trading by 2.1%.

The value of Tehrathum Power, Muktinath Agriculture Company, Nepal Warehousing Company, Dhaulagiri Microfinance, and Singati Hydropower increased by 10%. Similarly, Nepal Hydro Developers, Upper Mailungkhola Hydropower, and Vindhyabasini Hydropower increased by more than 9.5%. Human Microfinance witnessed the highest decline of 6.6% in value.

Nepal Republic Media saw a decrease of 6.4%, Shubham Power by 6.3%, and Chirkhwa Hydropower by 5.6%. Based on transaction values, Sonapur Cement, Hathway Investment Company, Mountain Energy, Nepal Infrastructure, and Synergy Power led the NPSE chart today.
