Political parties in talks with Mayor Sampang to reinstate President and Prime Minister’s photos in office

KATHMANDU: A meeting is currently underway between Mayor Harka Sampang of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City and representatives from five political parties.

The discussions aim to address the removal of photos of the President and Prime Minister from the mayor’s office.

Earlier, leaders from various political parties, including Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), and CPN-UML, had reached Sampang’s office with photos of the President and Prime Minister to reinstall them.

The mayor had previously removed the photos of the head of state and head of government, replacing them with images of Yalamber, the first king of the Kirat Dynasty. Sampang accused the central government of unsupportive behavior.

The meeting is part of efforts to resolve the matter, and the presence of a significant number of security personnel in the sub-metropolis office premises indicates the sensitivity of the issue.
