Advanced democracy the only option for democracy, says Deuba

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has stated that there is no alternative to an advanced democracy within the framework of democracy.

Speaking at a program organized by the NC on the occasion of the 48th National Unity and Reconciliation Day on Monday, the former Prime Minister emphasized that ongoing efforts aim to create a convoluted environment against democracy. He urged everyone to remain vigilant and aware of such efforts.

“Despite competition and ideological differences among political parties in Nepal, they all hold a unified stance on the issue of democracy. This is a commendable practice and quite rare,” Deuba commented.

During the event, Deuba highlighted the positive influence of NC founding member BP Koirala’s policies on matters concerning national agenda. He regarded BP as an eminent leader from a relatively small country.

Recalling BP’s courageous return to the nation during difficult times, Deuba emphasized that BP’s ideologies and policies regarding national unity and reconciliation remain highly pertinent even today.
