Orange festival being held in Chitwan’s Ichchakamana

CHITWAN: An orange festival kicks off today in Ichchakamana Rural Municipality of Chitwan, with a focus on showcasing and marketing the region’s vibrant orange produce.

Organized under the strategic planning of the rural municipality, the three-day festival will unfold in various villages including Tokdang, Dhap, Majhgaon, Sirangaon, and Dode, all nestled within ward No. 3.

Chairman Dan Bahadur Gurung shared that the festival is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting and marketing locally grown oranges, offering a unique experience for visitors.

“We have arranged for tourists to climb the trees themselves and pick oranges to eat,” he stated.

Adding to the excitement, an orange-eating contest is scheduled, and fresh oranges will be available at a discounted rate compared to the market prices, Gurung said.

In addition to the festivities, the festival seeks to empower local orange farmers.

Various materials will be distributed, and skilled agricultural technicians will conduct training sessions on diseases affecting orange cultivation.

Culinary delights prepared by locals will be served to guests, complemented by a captivating tableau showcasing the art and culture of the Chepang and Gurung communities.
