NSL 2nd Qualifier: Pokhara Thunders and Lalitpur FC to clash today

KATHMANDU: Pokhara Thunders FC and Lalitpur FC are set to clash in the second qualifier match of the Nepal Super League (NSL) today.

The encounter is scheduled to take place at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar, kicking off at 5:30 pm on Thursday.

Pokhara Thunders FC enters this crucial fixture following a heart-wrenching loss to Dhangadhi FC in the first qualifier, decided by a 4-3 tiebreaker.

Eager to redeem themselves, Pokhara is determined to secure a victory in the second qualifier.

On the opposite end, Lalitpur City FC secured their spot in this clash by defeating the previous season’s winner, Kathmandu Razors, with a convincing 3-0 triumph in the eliminator match.

The league stage witnessed Pokhara and Lalitpur sharing points with a goalless draw, setting the stage for a riveting encounter.

In the previous season, these two powerhouses similarly locked horns, resulting in a shared points scenario.

The stakes are high as the winner of this match will go on to face Dhangadhi FC in the ultimate battle for the NSL title.

Dhangadhi, the runner-up in the previous edition, poses a formidable challenge.

With Kathmandu eliminated in the game, NSL is guaranteed to crown a new champion this season.

The prestige of claiming the title comes with a substantial prize, with the winner set to receive Rs 70 lakh.

Additionally, the runner-up team will be awarded Rs 20 lakh, while outstanding individual performances will be recognized with cash prizes.

The best player will receive Rs 2 lakh, and the best goalkeeper, top scorer, and emerging player will each be granted Rs 1 lakh.
