KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has called upon the public to actively participate in fostering a positive perception of human organ donation and transplant.
Speaking at the inaugural National Transplant Conference organized by Martyr Dharma Bhakta National Transplant Centre and the Nepalese Society of Organ Transplant, PM Dahal emphasized the importance of encouraging organ donation to save lives.
“I want to request all brothers and sisters that many people can get a new life from the donated organs. It is our common responsibility to save patients suffering from liver, kidney, heart, and lung failures. So, I sincerely appeal to all Nepalis to contribute positively to the national campaign of organ transplant,” stated Prime Minister Dahal.
Expressing confidence that the conference would play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of health services, PM Dahal conveyed his commitment to addressing complexities within Nepal’s organ transplant treatment sector. He highlighted the significance of the conference in sharing both national and international experiences of organ transplant specialists and addressing challenges in the sector.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the importance of the conference’s suggestions and conclusions drawn through group discussions, emphasizing their role in facilitating quality transformations in the health sector. He reassured the government’s commitment to implementing reforms in the health sector.
Dahal recalled that during his second premiership, a decision was made to allocate land for the expansion of Martyr Dharma Bhakta National Transplant Centre. He pledged to conclude the remaining works in this regard during his current term. Commending the initiatives taken by the Centre on organ donation, the Prime Minister affirmed the government’s full support for the organ donation campaign.
