KATHMANDU: Tragic news unfolds with the confirmation of yet another Nepali youth’s demise in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, leading the death toll to eight so far.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially acknowledged the passing of Kundan Singh Nagal, marking the eighth Nepali casualty in this ongoing conflict.
Furthermore, the Ministry disclosed that Ukrainian forces currently detain four Nepali individuals, and diplomatic channels are actively pursuing their release. Bibek Khatri (Rajapur-1, Bardiya), Siddhartha Dhakal (Mandan Deupur-6, Kavrepalanchok), Bikas Rai (Letang-2, Morang), and Pratik Pun (Runtigadhi-8, Rolpa) were involved in combat operations alongside the Russian Army.
The escalating unlawful engagement of Nepali youths within the Russian Army has led the government to escalate warnings against travel to Russia for military involvement. Travelers to Russia are mandated to obtain a No Objection Letter (NOL) from the Consular Service Department.
Additionally, Nepali nationals residing abroad and planning visits to Russia must secure an NOL from the respective embassies located in their residing countries.
