KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has affirmed his commitment to take stringent measures against Ncell if found guilty in the sale and purchase of its shares, potentially violating tax laws.

During a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee on Tuesday, PM Dahal expressed concern over the lack of transparency in Ncell’s share transactions and informed the committee’s ongoing investigation. He revealed that a committee was formed upon his return from the COP 28 summit in Dubai, and they have allocated one month for a thorough examination of the case.

“I learned about Ncell’s share sale and purchase while attending the COP 28 summit in Dubai. After my return, we formed a committee that is currently collecting data and studying the case,” Dahal stated. He emphasized that if the committee finds Ncell guilty, the company will face consequences.

In a recent development, Malaysian company Axiata announced the sale of 80 percent of its Ncell shares to the UK’s Spectralite Limited for 50 million US dollars (6.66 billion rupees). This move has raised concerns among the general public and the government alike.
