KATHMANDU: In the midst of reports surrounding the Nepali nationals serving in Russian Army, being killed in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Office of Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared that foreign nationals are not permitted to enlist in the Russian Army.

This statement follows assertions by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, claiming that six Nepali nationals serving in the Russian Army lost their lives in the ongoing conflict.

However, the Russian government, contradicting these claims, maintains that it possesses no information regarding Nepali nationals serving in the Russian Army and being casualties of the conflict, as reported by bbcnepali.com.

The Office of the Russian President has clarified its position, stating that foreign nationals are not allowed to join the Russian Army, and have no information of Nepali nationals serving in the army.

Earlier, the Nepali government had formally communicated with the Russian authorities, requesting the repatriation of the deceased individuals and emphasizing the importance of preventing further enlistment of Nepali nationals in the Russian Army.
