Patan High Court orders KMC to permit sale of tobacco products

KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court has intervened to halt the immediate enforcement of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s decision to prohibit tobacco products.

The judicial bench, comprising Justices Janak Pandey and Brajesh Pyakurel, issued an interim order instructing the metropolis to permit the sale and distribution of tobacco products.

The court’s decision comes in response to a case filed by Shriram Tobacco Industry challenging the ban imposed by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
