KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC), a major partner in the ruling alliance, has announced its intention to secure a minimum of 10 seats in the upcoming National Assembly elections.

This decision emerged from the Central Performance Committee meeting held on Friday, where party leaders discussed and finalized their electoral strategy.

The National Assembly elections, scheduled for January 25, 2024, mark a crucial political juncture.

With the term of office for one member and 19 elected members nominated by the President expiring on March 3, 2024, political parties are gearing up for a significant electoral battle.

Committee member Ananda Dhungana said that the Nepali Congress has engaged all seven provincial working committees to recommend potential candidates.

Each province has been requested to propose three aspirants for the coveted seats.

Min Bishwakarma, the Head of the Publicity Department, emphasized the urgency of provinces recommending candidates within a 7-day timeframe.

Additionally, the central office is set to dispatch guidelines for recommending candidates to ensure a streamlined and transparent selection process.
