Bala Chaturdashi being observed today

KATHMANDU: Hindu devotees are observing Bala Chaturdashi, one of the famous Hindu festivals, across the country today.

The holy seeds are sown at Kailash, Gaurighat, Aryaghat, and Guheswori of the Pashupati area, Panchase, Galeshwor and Lord Shiva’s shrines across the countries on Mangsir Krishna Chaturdashi.

The Pashupati Area Development Trust said that devotees from different parts of the country have arrived at the Pashupatinath temple from Sunday morning.

The Trust said that tents and other provisions have been ensured targeting the devotees in view of the dipping temperature while a large number of security personnel have been deployed.

Families of those deceased sow the Satbeej (different hundred seeds) and light lights praying for eternal peace to the deceased on the day of Bala Chaturdashi festival.

As per Hindu mythology, one’s ancestors will have a place in heaven if such seeds are sown in the shrines related to Lord Shiva and at the Pashupati area in the name of the deceased, and family happiness is ensured.

Devotees coming from various places of the country throng the Pashupati area; lit lights in the name of their deceased ancestors and stay awake the whole night on Mangsir Krishna Trayodashi, chanting hymns. They sow the Satbeej early morning on Chaturdashi after taking a sacred bath,
