Nepal’s IGP Kunwar en route to Austria for INTERPOL general assembly



KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar has departed for Austria today to participate in the 91st INTERPOL General Assembly scheduled from November 28 to December 1 in Vienna.

IGP Kunwar, also serving as the chief of the National Central Bureau (NCB) for INTERPOL, is accompanied by Chief Superintendent of Police Anup Shumsher JB Rana from the INTERPOL section, along with police personnel Purushottam Nepali.

Police Sub-Inspector Nepali, recognized for his successful ascent of Mount Everest while carrying the national flag of Nepal and official flags of INTERPOL and the Nepal Police on INTERPOL’s 100th anniversary, has been specially invited to the event, which will bring together representatives from 195 INTERPOL member nations.

During the assembly, IGP Kunwar is slated to have a courtesy meeting with INTERPOL General Secretary Jurgen Stock. The Nepali delegation will also engage in bilateral talks and meetings with representatives from INTERPOL’s Global Outreach, as well as counterparts from India, China, and the UAE on the sidelines of the General Assembly.

In Kunwar’s absence, Additional Inspector General of Police Tek Prasad Rai will assume responsibility for the daily administrative affairs of the Nepal Police Headquarters.
