Govt disburses Rs 1.41 billion for temporary housing of earthquake victims

KATHMANDU: The government has released Rs 1.41 billion as the first installment of funds for the construction of temporary housing in five districts affected by the earthquake.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority provided details stating that a sum of Rs 1.41 billion has been disbursed as the initial installment. The authority mentioned that the amount was disbursed to the respective district administration offices.

In specifics, 500 million rupees have been allocated to Jajarkot, the earthquake’s epicenter, and an equal amount has been sent to another severely affected district, Rukum-West. Additionally, 250 million rupees have been disbursed in Bajhang, 140 million rupees in Bajura, and 20 million rupees in Salyan.

The authority has urged for the funds to be channeled through the municipalities, ensuring identification of beneficiaries in collaboration with local authorities and adhering to the designated procedures.
