Korala border in Mustang to open today after four years of closure



MUSTANG: The Korala border of Mustang is resuming operations today after a hiatus of four years.

Tashi Norbu Gurung, Chairman of Lomanthang Rural Municipality, said that the formal inauguration of the checkpoint is scheduled for 10 am today, with officials from both Nepal and China expected to participate in the announcement.

China had closed the Korla border four years ago in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recent diplomatic efforts between the two nations have paved the way for the reopening of the checkpoint, bringing joy to the local residents.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s recent visit to China played a crucial role in this development, he said.
