One more arrested in Dolakha 11 kg gold smuggling case

KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has taken another person into custody in connection with the 11 kg gold seized in Dolakha.

Mahima Majhi was arrested in Kathmandu on Monday and subsequently transferred to Dolakha for further investigation, according to Bureau spokesperson SP Navaraj Adhikari.

“District Police Office, Dolakha had issued a warrant for her arrest, so we apprehended her. At this point, we are unaware of her specific involvement in the case,” he stated.

Police Inspector Dharmesh Kumar Yadav from District Police Office Dolakha mentioned that the arrest warrant was issued due to her connection with the banking business. In total, 14 individuals have been detained in connection with this case.

Last September, authorities confiscated 11 kg of gold from Bigu Rural Municipality-1 in Dolakha. The gold had been transported in potato sacks and was brought to Kathmandu through Falek. On September 27, the arrests were made in Dolakha following suspicions of gold-related activities.
