13 dead in Jajarkot earthquake cremated en masse

JAJARKOT: Thirteen people of Chiyurigaun from Nalgadh Municipality-1 in Jajarkot, who were killed after the earthquake happened on Friday night, were cremated en masse on Sunday.

They were cremated on the bank of the Nalgadh river.

Altogether 17 persons of ward no. 1 of the municipality were killed including 13 people of Chiyurigaun in the disastrous earthquake.

Those killed in the quake on the spot were five children including four of a family, four women and four men.
According to the municipality, those killed are Chandrakali Kami, Hira Kami, Sushanta Pariya, Binaya Pariyar, Sapana BK, Amrita Pun, Bishal BK, Manish BK, Sujal BK and Datta Bahadur Kumai.

Likewise, Bimsen BK, Sandip BK, Kamala BK, Pradesh BK, Bimala BK, Binita Pun, and Sunil BK also died as their houses collapsed on Friday night.

Most of the killed ones are children and senior citizens. A total of 54 people are confirmed dead in Nalgadh Municipality, the worst-hit area in the district from the quake.

The mayor of Nalgadh Municipality Dambar Rawat said the municipality has decided to provide Rs 10,000 to the families of dead ones to perform the death rituals.

Mayor Rawat shared that almost 90 percent of houses in the municipality were completely or partially damaged in the quake.
