JAJARKOT: The aftermath of the earthquake centered in Jajarkot has left a devastating toll, with the number of fatalities now standing at 154.

As per the latest data, 92 individuals lost their lives in Jajarkot, while Rukum West bore the brunt of 62 casualties.

Additionally, over 150 people have been reported as injured.

Notably, three severely injured individuals from Rukum West were rescued via a Nepalese army helicopter and have been transported to the provincial hospital in Surkhet.

Providing insights from the ground, Dhankumari Shahi, the deputy head of Aathbiskot municipality in Rukum West, said that the earthquake claimed 52 lives within the municipality alone.

Furthermore, the town of Athabiskot reported 60 injuries, with three critically wounded individuals receiving prompt evacuation to the Karnali Province Hospital in Surkhet.

Efforts are currently underway to gather comprehensive details regarding the extent of the damage caused by the devastating earthquake.

The 6.4 magnitude earthquake rocked Jajarkot and Rukum West last night, causing significant structural damage and leading to the collapse of numerous buildings.

The powerful tremors also resulted in hundreds of injuries in the affected area.

The impact of the earthquake was felt across Jajarkot and Rukum West, inflicting significant human casualties and material devastation.
