APF initiates repair and painting of Nepal-India border pillars

JANAKPURDHAM: The Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal has commenced the repair and painting of the Nepal-India border pillars.

Under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police Dipendra Shah, the restoration work began on Thursday at the border post in Dasgaja, Nepal.

This initiative falls under the command of the Armed Police Force Nepal No. 2, Chinnamasta Division in Madhesh Province.

During the inauguration of the border pillar restoration, Deputy Inspector General Shah emphasized the pivotal role of well-maintained border posts in fortifying national security.

Highlighting the crucial responsibility of the Armed Police Force in safeguarding the border, he underscored that this restoration effort will not only fortify border protection but also aid in curbing cross-border crimes.

Moreover, it will play a vital role in fostering stronger bilateral relations between Nepal and India.

He further acknowledged the indispensable support of the local community and people’s representatives in ensuring the successful implementation of the repair work.

Emphasizing the collaboration between the Armed Police Force and the border residents, Deputy Inspector General Shah emphasized the significance of citizens’ participation in effectively curbing border crimes.

He also shed light on the ongoing collaborative initiatives aimed at fostering a cohesive relationship between the authorities and the border communities.

Furthermore, in accordance with the decision made during the fifth meeting of the Nepal-India Coordination Committee, it was resolved that the India’s Border Security Forces would oversee the repair of even-numbered border pillars, while the repair of odd-numbered border pillars would be undertaken by Nepal in the presence of the Armed Police Force.

Pursuant to the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal, the responsibility for the maintenance of the odd-numbered border posts, constructed after 2014, has been entrusted to the Armed Police Force of Nepal.

In the initial phase, the focus will be on restoring over 1,000 border posts in Madhesh Province.
