NEPSE’s downward journey continues, stock market falls by 5.83 points on Wednesday

KATHMANDU: The downward journey of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continued on Wednesday.

The NEPSE index decreased by 5.83 points to 1858 points. However, the turnover increased on Wednesday compared to Tuesday.

Securities worth Rs 571.4 million were traded on Tuesday, while on Wednesday it was Rs 812 million. As the price of 68 companies increased, 162 decreased while 8 remained stable.

Indicators of all subgroups decreased today. Banking declined by 0.24, development bank by 13.80, finance by 6, hotel and tourism by 47, hydropower by 9, life insurance by 38, manufacturing by 48, microfinance by 24, non-life insurance by 35, others by 3 and business subgroup decreased by 14 points.

The price of Sayapatri Hydropower increased by 9.3 percent. The prices of Himalayan Lagufinance increased by 8.5%, Rawa Energy by 7.5% and Ghalemdi Hydro by 3.7%.

Sonapur Cement remained the most price-decreasing. The price of this company decreased by 10 percent until the previous day, but on Wednesday, it decreased by 7.99 percent to 234 rupees 80 paise. The price of CYC Microfinance decreased by 5.5% and Swetaganga Hydro by 4%.

On the basis of transaction amount, Sonapur Cement, Asha Microfinance (Founder), Hathaway Investments, Citizen Life and Himalaya Distillery were ahead respectively.
