GORKHA: Adverse weather affected the rescue effort of two foreign tourists from Gorkha.

The tourists got altitude sickness when they reached Lumjen Monastery at Ripchet of Chumanubi Rural Municipality-6 in Gorkha district in course of trekking, and there have been difficulties in rescuing them, one from Switzerland and another from the United States, said Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal.

Although all preparations have been over for their rescue, there is a problem in operating a rescue helicopter due to bad weather, he added.

Rescue efforts on Sunday failed as well.

The Ministry of Home Affairs granted a flight permit, but the adverse affected the matter, he said, adding that both of them will be rescued today if the weather improves.
