UN Secretary-General visiting Nepal from Oct 29



KATHMANDU: United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres will be visiting Nepal from October 29 to November 1, at an invitation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

The UN Secretary-General will be arriving on an official visit to Nepal first time since he assumed office in January 2017.

During the visit, he will address a joint session of the Federal Parliament on October 3.

Likewise, he is scheduled to observe the impact of climate change on the mountain and will hold a brief interaction with the affected community.

Additionally, he is scheduled to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Budhha, and Pokhara.

His entourage will include UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix; UN resident coordinator in Nepal, Hanaa Singer-Hamdy, and other officials from the UN Headquarters in New York and a team from the UN Nepal.
