Second day of Dashain celebration continues

KATHMANDU: Today marks the second day of the Dashain festival.

As the auspicious occasion of Bijaya Dashami unfolds, those unable to participate in the festivities yesterday are seeking blessings from their seniors.

In adherence to tradition, distant relatives and loved ones make the journey to bestow blessings and offer Dashain Tika from today until the auspicious day of Kojagrata Purnima.

This ensures that the spirit of Dasain remains vibrant and inclusive, fostering a sense of togetherness and harmony.

Notably, certain districts in the western region of Nepal follow the custom of administering Tika exclusively on the first day of Bijaya Dashami.

From the initiation of Ghatasthapana, the installation of the revered deity Durga Bhawani in households marks the beginning of elaborate rituals, including Tika, Jamara, and Prasad, all the way through to the day of Purnima.

The belief that receiving Tika from elder family members guarantees happiness, peace, prosperity, and glory remains deeply ingrained in the cultural fabric.
