Brigade Boys Club wins sixth Belbari International Invitational Gold Cup

PATHARI, MORANG: Brigade Boys Club has bagged the sixth Belbari International Invitational Gold Cup title by defeating Birtamod Youth Club of Jhapa 5-3 in the finals today. Brigade Boys Club beat Birtamod Youth Club 5-3 in a tie-breaker.

The winner received Rs 800,000 in cash and a trophy while the first runner-up Rs 500,000 in cash and a trophy. Minister for Youth and Sports Dig Bahadur Limbu handed cash prizes and trophies amid a function. Birtamod Youth Club led the match by scoring a goal within two minutes of the start of the match. For the team, Abhishekh Gurung scored a goal.

Brigade Boys Club equaled with a goal by Dipesh Ale in the 31st minute. Although both the teams played aggressively, the match was pushed to a tie-breaker as both of them ended 1-1 in the allotted time.

In the tie-breaker, for Brigade Boys Club, Roshan Rana, Anjal Maharjan, Dipesh Ale, Anish Tamang and Jaya Gurung scored while for Birtamod Youth Club, Yogesh Gurung, Bishal Darji and Bikram Lumbu. But Nishan Tamang’s shot was saved by Brigade Boys Club’s goalkeeper Bishal Sunar leading to its defeat. Sunar was announced the best goalkeeper. Brigade Boys Club’s Jaya Gurung was announced the best player, Padma Bhattarai the best defender, Dipesh the most scorer and Dhaneshwor Prajapati the best coach.

Similarly, Birtamod Youth Club’s Abhishekh Gurung was announced man of the match, Aashish Chapagain the best forward and Rohan Karki the best midfielder. Durga Rai was announced the emerging player. The total eight teams including from Nepal and neighbouring India participated in the match that was held in Koshi Province from 13 October.
