CAAN suspends Manang Air flights, forms investigation committee

KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended the flight of Manang Air and formed a committee to investigate the chopper accident that took place on Saturday morning.

Manang Air’s ‘9N-ANJ’ helicopter flying from Lukla in Solukhumbu to Lobuche had an accident on Saturday morning while landing at Lobuche in Khumbupasang Lhamu rural municipality.

Pilot Prakash Kumar Sedai was injured in the accident. Although there was no human casualty, the helicopter caught fire after the accident.

The authority said that a four-member investigation committee has been formed to investigate it. The cause of the accident has not yet been revealed.

Likewise, Manang Air’s ‘Air Operating Certificate (AOC)’ has been suspended for the time being.
