Finance Minister Mahat leaves for Morocco to attend WB’s annual meeting



KATHMANDU: Minister for Finance Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has left for Morocco to participate in the annual meeting of the World Bank.

The annual meeting will discuss on the issues of global concerns, including global economic perspectives, global fiscal stability, poverty alleviation, inclusive economic growth and employment creation.

‘Global action, global impact’ has been set the theme of the meeting to be held on October 9-15.

On the occasion, Finance Minister Dr Mahat is scheduled to meet with International Finance Corporation (IFC)’s Regional Vice President for Asia and the Pacific Riccardo Puliti on feasibility of private investment in Nepal.

Also on the occasion, Minister Dr Mahat will have a meeting with USAID on Nepal-US development partnership. Matters related to risk elements on access to concessional fiscal arrangement and economic development capable of overcoming challenges and promoting inclusion through public digital infrastructure will also be discussed, it is shared.

Minister Mahat will also hold a sideline meeting with South Korean Deputy Prime Minister on the occasion. He will also have a meeting with the representatives of the Standard & Chartered Bank and Fitch Rating (a credit rating related organization) on Nepal’s rating.

Also on the occasion, Dr Mahat will have a meeting with the representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The Finance Minister will also meet with the World Bank Group on future fiscal windows, Vice-President of International Development Association and Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).

In the annual meeting, Finance and Development Ministers from 189 countries, representatives from central banks, private sector. civil society organizations, media and academia are attending the annual general meeting.
