KATHMANDU: Monsoon has retreated from most parts of the Karnali and Lumbini provinces in the country, the Weather Forecasting Division has said.
Earlier, the Sudurpaschhim experienced the withdrawal of the monsoon on October 6.
The Division anticipates that it will take a few more days for the monsoon to depart from other regions of the country.
The monsoon season enters Nepal around June 14 and typically concludes by October 2.
However, this year, a five-day delay in the western region was observed.
Contrary to previous years when the monsoon withdrew uniformly across the country, this year has seen it receding only from the Sudurpaschhim, Karnali, and Lumbini provinces.
The Division is monitoring the situation to determine the exact timeline for the monsoon’s departure from the entire country, it said.
Following the monsoon’s withdrawal, there is no immediate expectation of rain in the western parts of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and Lumbini.
The Weather Forecasting Division also indicates that other regions are unlikely to experience prolonged or heavy rainfall.
While light rain persists in some areas of the Bagmati and Gandaki provinces due to a low-pressure system in eastern and central Nepal and Bangladesh, other regions remain mostly clear from sporadic rain.
Throughout the afternoon, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces may experience partial to normal rainfall, while the rest of the provinces are expected to remain clear, as per the Division’s forecast.
In the evening, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are expected to have mostly clear weather with partial to normal showers in other provinces.
There is a possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning in some places within Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and one or two places in Lumbini province, during the night.
