BAJHANG: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, known as ‘Prachanda,’ has pledged 50,000 rupees in aid to families whose homes were completely destroyed by the recent earthquake in Bajhang, to assist them in building temporary housing.
During his visit to Chainpur, the epicenter of the Bajhang earthquake, Prime Minister Dahal observed the extensive damage and made the announcement to support earthquake victims with immediate relief.
He also revealed plans to provide immediate financial assistance of 15 to 20 thousand rupees to other families affected by the earthquake. Expressing his condolences to the landslide victims, the Prime Minister assured that families of the deceased would receive 200,000 rupees immediately, and free medical treatment would be provided to the injured.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Dahal confirmed the management of relief materials, including tents, blankets, medicines, food, clothing, and supplies for people with disabilities, and pledged additional support in coordination with all levels of government if necessary.
To address the long-term reconstruction and rehabilitation of damaged houses and structures, the Prime Minister outlined plans to create procedures based on damage assessments at the local, district, and provincial levels. These efforts will prioritize safe reconstruction using local materials, following successful models in Gorkha, Sindhupalchok, and other districts.
On behalf of the government, Prime Minister Prachanda expressed gratitude to national servants, security agencies, civil society, charitable organizations, the private sector, and others involved in rescue and relief efforts for earthquake victims. He emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination, cooperation, and collaboration in future endeavors.
