CIAA files corruption case against nine individuals, including Commerce Secretary Marasini

KATHMANDU: A corruption case has been filed against nine individuals, including Madhu Marasini, Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) initiated this case in the Special Court.

Among the accused are the Chairman and Executive Director of the National Information Technology Center, alongside Secretary Marasini, in connection with the National Payment Gateway case.

The allegations revolve around the National Payment Gateway, which was acquired six years ago but remains unused due to inadequate infrastructure preparations.

After a thorough inquiry, the CIAA initiated legal proceedings in response to allegations of illegal damage and misuse of government assets, arising from the purchase of amounting to 25 million rupees.

Furthermore, the CIAA has concluded that the misappropriation occurred through collusion and planning, implicating the former executive director of the National Information Technology Center.
