NC to draw PM Dahal’s attention to formulate essential laws

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress, a key partner in the ruling coalition, is gearing up to draw Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s attention towards critical matters concerning legislation and the welfare of the people.

The party has decided to hold a “serious discussion” with Prime Minister Dahal soon after he returns from China.

PM Dahal is currently on a visit to China.

One of the foremost concerns emphasized by the Nepali Congress is the need for expeditious legislation in line with the constitution’s provisions.

“The government should take the lead in formulating essential laws,” stated NC General Secretary Gagan Thapa.

Furthermore, the party intends to urge the Prime Minister and the government to exercise fiscal prudence during these times of economic crisis.

“NC will urge the Prime Minister and the government to refrain from unnecessary expenditure when the country is grappling with financial difficulties,” Thapa added.

In a comprehensive review of the government’s performance, the Nepali Congress noted that some crucial decisions have not been effectively implemented.

“Despite our persistent efforts, the government has failed to put certain decisions into action,” Thapa lamented.

Consequently, the Nepali Congress is committed to bringing to the forefront issues related to good governance, efficient public service delivery, and other pertinent concerns.

The party acknowledges that, as a coalition government led by Prime Minister Dahal, collaborative efforts are paramount to address these challenges.

Even Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, who also serves as the Defense Minister, has underscored the need for a discussion on the government’s functioning upon Prime Minister Dahal’s return from China.

Khadka said that NC should take the lead in troubleshooting the practical implications that surface in implementation of the constitution.
