KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated Malaysia by six runs in the final match of the T20 International Cricket Tournament at Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday clinching the series by 2-0. Earlier on Saturday, Nepal had defeated host Malaysia by 7 wickets.
Chasing the 174-run target set by Nepal, Malaysia managed to get only 167 runs on the board losing seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Sompal Kami and Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets each as Karan KC, Abinash Bohara and Paras Khadak grabbed one wicket apiece.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, a brilliant half-century knock by Binod Bhandari propelled Nepal to post 173 runs in the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.
Bhandari (not out) made 51 runs off 25 balls hitting five sixes. Sharad Vesawkar and skipper Paras Khadka contributed 40 and 23 runs respectively.
For Malaysia, Fitri Sham took three wickets while Syed Aziz and Sharvin Muniandy grabbed a wicket apiece.
