Three adolescents go missing while crossing river



FIKKAL: Three adolescent girls have gone missing after being swept away by a flooded river at Mai municipality in Ilam today.

The missing have been identified as Akriti Limbu, Nisha Sauden and Sunita Sauden of Mai municipality-1.

According to Hemanta Bhandari, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Ilam, the Mai rivulet washed them away while returning home after attending exams at Gotame Secondary School at Mai municipality-6 on Friday. Bhandari said that they went disappeared while crossing the flooded rivulet from Mai municipality-6, Bardhare on the way back home.

A police team from the District Police Office, Ilam and Chhisapani police post have been mobilized to search for the missing. However it has been tough to carry out search operation due to incessant rain, police said.

Earlier, Anchala Lawati, a local of Chulachuli rural municipality, Ilam, was swept away by the rivulet on Friday.
