KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has formed a dedicated five-member investigation committee in response to the brutal murder of four individuals in Gairigaon, Kathmandu.

The horrifying incident unfolded last night in a hut located inside the Divya Sawmill of Gairigaon, Tinkune, Kathmandu, where four lives were tragically taken. Among the victims were three members of the same family, namely 55-year-old Kumar Bhujel, his 52-year-old wife Ambika Bhujel, and Kumar’s 76-year-old mother, Subhadra Bhujel, all hailing from Dolakha. Additionally, 20-year-old Navin Rai from Belbari, Morang, lost his life in the same wood mill.

Kathmandu Valley police spokesperson Dineshraj Mainali confirmed the formation of a five-member investigation committee to delve into this horrific crime.

The committee comprises Subas Khadka from the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Hari Khatiwada from the District Police Range, Surakshya KC from the Metropolitan Crime Division, and Police Inspector Birendra KC from Baneshwar Circle. These officers will operate under the coordination of SSP Somendra Singh Rathore.

Police arrested a 28-year-old individual named Dipendra Rai, who resides in the same house, on suspicion of involvement in the murders. Initial investigations suggest that Rai was acquainted with the deceased Navin. Rai voluntarily presented himself to the police, with bloodstains on his body, having taken a taxi to the station.

The motive behind this gruesome murder remains undisclosed, leaving authorities baffled.
