BIRATNAGAR: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has raised concerns about an alleged attempt to incite caste-based riots amidst the ongoing debate over the naming of the Koshi province.

Speaking at a gathering organized by the Samajwadi Morcha in Biratnagar on Monday, PM Dahal, also the chairman of the Maoist Center, expressed his apprehensions.

He asserted that reactionary forces, religious extremists, and individuals opposing the republic are actively working to sow discord under the guise of the Koshi naming issue.

PM Dahal emphasized the importance of resolving this dispute through consensus rather than escalating it through disputes, calling for collective negotiations among all political parties.

Interestingly, the banner displayed at the Samajwadi Morcha event did not bear the name “Koshi Province.”

PM Dahal also highlighted that the government’s anti-corruption measures have triggered a backlash from these reactionary elements.

He cited various schemes and conspiracies aimed at undermining the government’s efforts, particularly after the exposure of corruption cases involving fake refugees, Lalita Niwas in Baluwatar, and gold smuggling.

Regardless of how long he remains in office, PM Dahal affirmed his commitment to combating corruption, underlining the government’s comprehensive anti-corruption strategy.
