PM Dahal highlights anti-corruption campaign and good governance drive

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting good governance and combating corruption, noting that some individuals have reacted strongly to these initiatives.

Madhav Nepal suggests election or coalition as only options for Koshi Province

Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of the CPN Unified Socialist Party, has hinted at the possibility of a re-election in the Koshi province.

Speaking at a program organized by his party’s sister organization Unified Trade Union Federation on Saturday, Chairman Nepal asserted that Koshi province faces just two choices: either to proceed with elections or to form a coalition government. He signaled his party’s readiness to participate in elections.

EC bringing laws to stop flamboyant election campaigns, expenses

The Election Commission (EC) has proposed comprehensive amendments and revisions to the prevailing election-related laws to address the voices raised in the society to make elections clean, free, fair, safe and economical.

In the draft of the bill designed to integrate laws related to election it is proposed to limit the election campaign, reduce the silent period and make the expenditures by candidates and parties transparent, said Shaligram Sharma Paudyal, spokesperson of the Commission.

Commercial flight starts from Pokhara Int’l Airport as Druk Air flies to Thimphu with 42 passengers

After eight months of anticipation, Pokhara International Airport has officially commenced commercial flight operations.

Bhutan’s flagship carrier, Druk Air, embarked on its inaugural journey from Pokhara International Airport to Thimphu, marking a significant step towards enhancing connectivity and tourism in the region.

Airport Chief Dev Chandra Lal Karna announced that Druk Air’s flight took off from Pokhara International Airport on Saturday morning, carrying a total of 42 passengers, which included three dedicated crew members.

The aircraft, originating from Paro Airport in Bhutan, touched down in Pokhara at 6:45 am.

Seven die in Banke bus accident

At least seven people died in a bus accident in Banke last night.

The accident occurred as a bus, ferrying members of a local community forest in Banke, collided with a truck, resulting in the loss of seven lives and leaving 34 others injured.

The incident unfolded when a speeding bus with the license plate Na 7 Kha 2321 collided with a parked truck bearing the registration Na 8 Kha 6405, near the Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-8 in Banke’s forest.

Koshi Province CM Karki pledges to secure vote of confidence

The newly-appointed Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, expressed his confidence in receiving a vote of confidence within the designated timeframe.

CM Karki, who was sworn in on Friday evening, asserted that his government anticipates securing the vote of confidence within 30 days, as both the public and political circles do not foresee the need for midterm elections.

He emphasized that the current provincial government’s progress hinges on obtaining the vote of confidence, presenting it as the only viable option.
