Monsoon-triggered landslides, floods claim 17 across country

KATHMANDU: Sixteen people have died and thirteen others have sustained injuries in landslides and floods triggered by incessant rains continuing for the last three days.

According to the National Emergency Operation Center at the Home Ministry, three each have been killed in Kathmandu and Khotang, two each in Bhojpur and Kavre and one each in Lalitpur, Parsa, Makwanpur, Mahottari, Ramechhap, Sindhuli and Dhading

Similarly, two people have been injured in Siraha, one in Sarlahi, five in Rautahat, one in Khotang, two in Kavre and one in Lalitpur.

Some five people have gone missing in floods and landslides, the Ministry stated.

According to Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, floods and landslides have affected Sunsari, Mahottari, Rautahat, Chitwan and Sindhuli, Palpa, Kathmandu, Panchthar, and Makwanpur districts.
