KATHMANDU: Various regions of Nepal, including the capital city Kathmandu, have been experiencing continuous rainfall since the early hours of the day.

The Weather Forecasting Division has stated that light to moderate rainfall is currently observed in different parts of the country.

This prevailing pattern of rain is expected to persist for an additional two days, as per the Division’s predictions.

Furthermore, the Division has foreseen the likelihood of moderate to heavy rain in select hilly areas, mainly within the Sudurpaschim Province, along with a few other locations nationwide later in the afternoon.

Additionally, there is a potential for light to moderate rain in sections of the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as isolated areas in other provinces.

The Kathmandu Valley is also bracing for rainfall during the afternoon hours.

Given these impending weather conditions, the Division has issued a warning and advisory which emphasizes the possibility of heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in specific locations within the Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Consequently, there is a potential for rising river water levels, leading to increased flow, floods, landslides, and erosion in these vulnerable areas.

It stated that weather-induced events could have adverse effects on public health, agriculture, daily routines, as well as road and air transportation.

In light of these circumstances, the Division has urged people to take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential inconveniences, risks, or damages that could arise due to these changing weather conditions.
