Speaker Ghimire meets PM Dahal to resolve parliament deadlock

KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire engaged in talks with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” regarding the resolution of the parliamentary deadlock on Friday morning.

Speaker Ghimire has been in discussions with prominent leaders and party whips in a concerted effort to bring an end to the impasse in the House of Representatives.

However, the CPN-UML, the main opposition party, remains unwavering in its demand for the establishment of a high-level committee to investigate the 100-kilo gold smuggling case, leading to their persistent obstruction of parliamentary proceedings.

The next session of the House of Representatives is scheduled for August 10.

Despite the ongoing obstruction by the UML, the government has made it explicit that the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) is actively investigating the case, rendering the formation of a separate high-level committee unnecessary.
