PM Dahal assures imminent investigation on Mahara and his son



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has assured that the investigation will be started against the CPN-Maoist Center Vice-Chairman Krishna Bahadur Mahara and his son Rahul soon.

Speaking to a team of editors in Baluwatar on Tuesday, Prachanda, who is also the chairman of the Maoist Center, said that an investigation would be started against the father and son of Vice Chairman Mahara.

“I have instructed to investigate Vice Chairman Mahara and his son’s alleged involvement in a gold smuggling case,” he said, adding, “Now the investigation will proceed soon.”

Mahara, who is also the former Speaker, and his son Rahul are allegedly involved in gold smuggling through Chinese citizen Wang. It has been revealed that both of them had more than 234 phone calls with Wang, a Chinese citizen involved in gold smuggling in Nepal through e-cigarettes.

On the other hand, Mahara who reached home district Dang on Tuesday, has clarified that the businessman Wang whom he talked was a fruit trader and he had not called any smuggler.

Mahara claimed that the forces trying to disrupt the leftist unity were cunningly hatching a conspiracy against him.
