BHAKTAPUR: Bhaktapur’s allure as a tourist destination continues to grow, as evidenced by a significant uptick in visitor numbers.

The year 2022/23 saw a remarkable influx of foreign tourists, with an impressive total of 167,652 making their way to Bhaktapur.

Comparatively, the preceding year, 2021/22, bore witness to 53,560 foreign tourists exploring the captivating streets of Bhaktapur.

However, the latest fiscal year, 2022/23, revealed a more comprehensive breakdown of this surge, with 86,334 individuals hailing from non-SAARC nations, while 81,318 tourists representing SAARC countries and China equally contributed to Bhaktapur’s thriving tourism scene.

In tandem with this influx of visitors, the coffers also reaped the benefits, amassing over Rs 184 million in tourism fees during the same fiscal period.

The Tourism Information and Service Center of Bhaktapur Nepal meticulously recorded this data, which paints a vivid picture of the international appeal of this historic city.

A truly global array of nations were represented among the visitors, as Bhaktapur played host to travelers from the USA, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, and the Netherlands.

Likewise, other tourists visiting Bhaktapur represented countries such as Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and numerous other countries, all converging upon Bhaktapur in 2022/23.
