KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Sunil Sharma, who was arrested on Thursday afternoon, has been accused of forgery of educational certificates.
A team of Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) officials arrested lawmaker Sharma from his residence in Mandikhatar, Kathmandu, on Thursday.
“He was taken into custody for investigation after receiving a complaint of tampering with educational credentials,” said DIG Kuber Kadayat, Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police.
Sharma was elected from Morang Constituency-3 in the House of Representatives elections last November. He is also the director of Kathmandu Medical College and Noble Medical College in Biratnagar.
CIB had been investigating on Sharma and many others allegedly involved in forging educational certificates since 2016.
