KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has upheld its position on the establishment of a High-Level Committee to investigate the gold smuggling case, thereby sustaining its obstruction of the House of Representatives (HoR) proceedings on Tuesday.

This disruption by the party is a direct outcome of their unyielding demand for the creation of a high-level inquiry committee tasked with delving into the intricacies of the gold smuggling issue.

Even after Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha’s address, UML lawmakers persisted with their obstructionist strategies within the parliamentary session. In response, Speaker Devraj Ghimire appealed for cooperation to facilitate the progression of the regular legislative agenda.

However, as the obstruction persisted, the Speaker took the decision to adjourn the meeting until 1 pm on Wednesday.
