COLOMBO: The Sri Lankan government said it would revive visa on arrival for citizens of 39 countries, barring India and China, from August 1, according to media reports.

The visa issuance was suspended after the Easter Sunday blasts that killed 258 people. The island country had on April 25 suspended granting visas on arrival to citizens of 39 countries after the suicide bombings on April 21.

Sri Lanka’s tourism industry accounts for over five percent of the country’s GDP.

However, the government could extend to Indian and China in the future. (Agencies)
