UML to seek Home Minister Shrestha’s clarification on 100 kg gold smuggling case

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party CPN-UML has decided to seek Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha’s clarification regarding the illegal entry of about 100 kg of gold from Tribhuvan International Airport.

The meeting of the parliamentary party held at the parliament building in Naya Baneshwar on Wednesday afternoon decided to demand an inquiry into the gold smuggling case and an answer from Home Minister Shrestha.

“We cannot move forward until a judicial inquiry committee is formed, we are looking for the government’s answer,” UML chief whip Padam Giri said after the meeting.

Earlier, UML leaders had revealed that they have been mulling over House obstruction on the issue.
