One nabbed with illegal gold and diamond from TIA



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 55-year-old Abhay Bishwakarma, an Australian citizen of Nepali origin, along with 770 grams of gold and 54.75 grams of diamond, which he was trying to smuggle out of Tribhuvan International Airport to foreign countries.

He was about to go to Australia from Kathmandu via Malaysia on a Malaysia Airlines flight.

The police recovered illegal gold and diamonds during a security check-up at the airport.

He was carrying the gold and diamonds hiding them in a handbag evading customs.
“It seems the accused was trying to smuggle the gold and diamonds to a foreign country,” the police said.

The police informed that further investigation in this regard.
