Nepal Police Club wins title defeating APF



KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club (NPC) has won the title of the 7th Prime Minister’s Cup National Volleyball Cup League by defeating Nepal APF Club on Saturday.

In the final, Police defeated APF in a set of 3-1 and confirmed the prize of Rs 600,000. In the match played at the National Sports Council (NSC) Covered Hall, Tripureshwor, NPC won the title by defeating APF in 25-12, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19 sets today.

After losing the first set easily, APF had a great start in the second set. In the second set, APF was in a strong position 16-9. From that situation, the NPC showed the possibility of a comeback by adding three points in a row.

APF was tied 6-6 in the third set. But after scoring three consecutive points from that time, the police took time out under pressure. After the time out, it got three points in a row 9-9.

After APF scored four consecutive points, APF was 14-10. It scored four points in a row to tie the score at 16-16. In the third set, APF was leading 21-18 and showed the possibility of victory.

The match became interesting after the third set was tied at 23-23. Poonam Chand performed her best in the match. After turning the game 21-23 and scoring four consecutive points, the Police took a 2-1 lead in the game. In the 4th set, the police ensured the basis of the victory by going ahead with a tie of 17-17.

The winning team will get Rs 600,000, APF will get Rs 300,000, New Diamond will get Rs 150,000 and Nepal Army’s team will get Rs 75,000 in prize.
