Parties agree on zero tolerance against heinous crimes, illicit activities in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR: Security bodies and political parties have agreed to stop illegal activities in the district by maintaining zero-tolerance against heinous crimes and unlawful actions.

A meeting convened at the District Administration Office, Bhaktapur, was chaired by Chief District Officer Khagendra Prasad Rijal.

A five-point agreement reached on the occasion states that zero tolerance would be adopted against illicit activities and heinous crimes, as well as impartiality, would be maintained on these.

Similarly, it is stated that the political parties shall fulfill the responsible role to ensure peace and law and order in society through collaboration among the sides concerned, the local administration, police and political parties.

In the case of incidents of general dispute, such disputes shall be resolved through mediation if they are of that nature as per the law.

Likewise, it is stated that all the political parties shall play a coordinative role in maintaining law and order and controlling crime in the district, they shall spread the necessary awareness at the lowest level of their respective organizations for adhering to the existing law and getting them abided by for eliminating the impunity existing in society, CDO Rijal said.

It was agreed that the necessary monitoring, coordination and facilitation would be carried out on behalf of all the parties for ensuring the timely completion of construction works and projects by maintaining the determined standard.

An environment would be created to prevent and control the trafficking and abuse of narcotics, black marketing, profiteering, sale and supply of substandard food items and consumer goods, and the illegal mining and supply of river-based construction materials in the district.

It was also agreed in the meeting to inform the bodies concerned on time in case such illegal activities are found taking place for taking prompt action against the culprits.
