District Court Judge Shree Krishna Bhattarai resigns

KATHMANDU: District Court Judge Shree Krishna Bhattarai, who had filed complaints against Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki during the latter’s parliamentary procedure, resigned from the post on Monday.

He submitted his resignation on Monday saying that he could not execute his duty under newly appointed Chief Justice Karki morally because he had filed a complaint against Justice Karki during the latter’s parliamentary hearing.

“I have also disclosed the reasons while filing complaints against Justice Karki before the hearing committee, Had my evidence been studied minutely, Justice Karki could not have been in the chair,” he said, adding, “My attempts are for the reformation of the judiciary system. However, as Karki has been appointed Chief Justice, I can not discharge my duty under the leadership I complained against.”

He also said that he thought a lot after Karki was appointed as Chief Justice and finally concluded that he should resign from the post.
