KATHMANDU: Nepal and Kuwait are competing in the opening match of the South Asian Football Federation Championship (SAFF) to be held in Bangalore, India today.
Kuwait is participating in the SAFF as an “invited team”.
Nepal and Kuwait have played five matches since 2019.
After a goalless draw in a friendly in Kuwait in 2019, Kuwait has won four matches.
Last year, Kuwait won 4-1 against Nepal in the Asian Cup qualifiers.
Kuwait is a strong rival for Nepal.
In the FIFA ranking, India is in the 101st position, Kuwait in 143rd, Nepal 174th and Pakistan is in the 195th ranking.
